What's the worst vacation you've ever taken?
It was a week in the City of Bath. I was in my teens and went with my parents. Stopped in a Guest House, we coudnt find anywhere to park and ended up spending £25 for the week using a garage forecourt. We knocked on the Guest House door and the owner came and looked us up and down like we were pieces of shit then asked who were were and we gave her out names and she looked like she hadnt got a clue who were were and that we were really inconvenient.
She showed us to our rooms, I got this damp room and woke up the following morning my lips were turning blue because it was so cold and damp it set off one of the worst asthama attacks I had i my entire life. The owner of the guesthouse never saw us again, she refused to servve us breakfast and send a minion out to serve us even though we knew she was in the back. My parents 25th wedding aniversary was spent there and when they put cards up in their room, the woman at the breakfast sneaked up to us checking her back and whispered that she wished them a happy annivesary as if she might get in trouble for being nice to us, the owner who must have known never even came out to say anything nice as is often customary in guest houses when the owners come out and chat with guests.
My parents room was at the bottom of the house next door to the private family quarters and was woken one night with the husband, drunk as a skunk making a right racket. The people of Bath were rude, we got swore at by a Big Issue salesman becasue we politely declined to buy his magazine and we got a mouthful of abuse. I spent the entire time unable to breath, we felt unwelcome and I just wanted to go home. I never want to go back to that hellhole of a city ever again. Bath can be described as Miss Havershams Wedding Cake from Great Expectations. It looks beautiful on the outside but beneath the icing it is rotten to the core, both the buildings and the people we met, rude, rude people. I never want to go there ever again. And I love Jane Austin sigh.
